Xwemalhkwu leaders plan strategically

A plan to stimulate all aspects of the nation is being put in to action by Xwemalhkwu (Homalco) leaders.

That follows a three-day strategic planning workshop held in February that was attended by Chief Richard Harry and councillors Robert Harry, Bill Blaney, Alison Trenholm and Maryann Enevoldson.

The workshop was coordinated by Trenholm and Gary Reith of Naut'sa mawt Tribal Council. Christine Callihoo, a land-use and community planner with Counterflow Community Planning facilitated the series of meetings.

“The workshop served as the first step forward in the nation leadership’s desire to refocus, rebuild, and revitalize the community in order to fully realize opportunities of interest to the Nation,” Calihoo said.

With a strategic plan now in place, Calihoo said the Xwemalhkwu leadership has an ongoing process designed to build upon the workshop in order to move forward “realizing desired gains and addressing potential impediments to the success of the nation.”
